Aperture in camera determines how much lights enter into the camera and what would be the depth of field. Depth of field of the camera also defines how much bokeh effect you will get.
Wide open aperture will have a low depth of field and hence good bokeh. Smaller aperture settings (let’s say F22) will have a very long depth of field and most of the scene would be in focus and clear.
